In a story released by the BBC, we have learned that Harrison Ford required surgery on his broken LEG (not ankle) according to his publicist, Ina Treciokas, as quoted below:
“His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly..."
“He’s doing well and looks forward to returning to work.”
These statements from Ina are shocking to say the least. However, some previous reports had indicated that he was airlifted from the set.
It is obvious why the truth was not revealed earlier: the Internet would have erupted into mass chaos. Websites would have crashed, the Twitter bird would have died, and data limits on cell phones would have been reached… all joking aside, it would have been devastating news. This type of ‘controlled information release’ is something we should all start getting used to. There is zero chance that Disney, Pinewood, Abrams, or any other party involved will risk the negative headlines in front of actual facts. Waiting until positive news could be included to reveal a more serious Ford injury was smart.
Let us all take a deep breath and be thankful that we now have clarification, a rehab plan, and the fact that he is in good spirits and is healing. Have any thoughts? Would you like to voice your concern or frustration? Please do so in the comments and let’s have a chat!
